This Week:


This week we start a new theme in Language Arts: On The Farm

We will be making animal mobiles, singing songs, learning about the vowel "Ii", listening for the sound at the beginning of a word, learning the new sight word - "come" and much more.

Our new vocabulary words are: squabble, mischief, uproar, tend, soggy and wobble

We have been working in our Literacy Centers and doing great! This week we will have a Reading Center, Word Work Center, Writing Center, Letters and Sounds Center, Math Center and an Art Center.

In Math we will be finishing up Unit 2 and taking the Unit Test.

  • Phonological Awareness: onset/rime blending
  • Word Building: -ap and -an words 
  • High-Frequency Word: he
  • Reviewing characters in a story and summarizing a story
  • Robust Vocabulary: proceed, announced, gasped, sly, imaginary, active, apparel, voyage, whimper, precisely, gigantic, glum, complained
  • Writing caption sentences
  • Working on word choice in our writing




During Centers we will be reading:

Lesson 9 Red : focuses on -ap and -an words

Lesson 9 Blue : sentences containing -ap and -an words, along with our new sight word (he).

Lesson 9 Green: if you're ready for the challenge, go for it!
