This week: October 1 - 5
This week we will work on:
During our Morning Meeting each student will have a time where they can share. We will start with a greeting and then students will have two minutes to tell a story, show or talk about something they would like to bring to share with the class. They will ask for three questions or comments. If they are bringing in an item to share, it must fit in their backpack.
Here is our schedule:

Tuesdays: Lizzie, Brayden, Josiah and Elias
Wednesdays: Emmy D., Owen, Julia and North
Thursdays: Genevieve, Alonso, Emily O., Caden and Rory
Fridays: Jackson, Kaia, Rein, Amelia and Barbara
Our lesson from SecondStep (Social and Emotional Learning) is focusing on being assertive this week. We will talk about how you can ask for what you want or need in a calm and respectful way.

We will work on visualizing and analyzing characters. We will be examining character's actions, feelings, thoughts and words. Understanding characters in a story helps readers better understand the story.
In Writing:
Review writing questions and exclamation sentences and compound words in our Journals.
In Math:
We are finishing up Unit 1. We will compare numbers using less than and greater than symbols, invent strategies for adding three numbers, and we will look at data and make predictions. We wil take our Unit 1 Math test on Wednesday then start Unit 2: Measurement and Shapes on Thursday.
Each day there will be a lesson and students will practice in their Math Workbook, Morning Mania Math Workbooks or IXL.
Social Studies:
We are working on "What is a Community" in Social Studies.
The students have been working in groups to draw and name their own cities.
