Week of November 5 - 9:

Last wee was a great week!  Our Halloween Party and the Parade were fantastic!  On Friday we had 50 Grandfriends in our classroom!  What and amazing day! Check out all the pictures!

Thank you! Thank you!  Thank you to all the parents that helped at the Halloween Party!  You made it a success!  All the students had a great time!

If you haven't signed up for a conference yet, please do! Fall Conferences are:
November 5th from 12:00-4:00pm, November 8th and 13th from 4:00-8:00pm.
If you are having a hard time getting online, just email me and I will let you know what times are available.

This week:
No school on Monday!

Morning Meeting Schedule: Each student will have a time where they can share.  We will start with a greeting and then students will have two minutes to tell a story, show or talk about something they would like to bring to share with the class.  They will ask for three questions or comments.  If they are bringing in an item to share, it must fit in their backpack.
Here is our schedule:

Mondays: Davis, Nolan, Audrey and Connor - No school on Monday!  
Davis can share on Tuesday, Nolan on Wednesday, Audrey on Thursday and Connor on Friday this week
Tuesdays: Lizzie, Brayden, Josiah and Elias
Wednesdays: Emmy D., Owen, Julia and North
Thursdays: Genevieve, Alonso, Emily O., Caden and Rory
Fridays: Jackson, Kaia, Rein, Amelia and Barbara

Our lesson from SecondStep (Social and Emotional Learning): We will be talking about Empathy and excepting differences

Spelling Words - working on words with r-controlled syllables
Words:        embark alarm yarn boxcar arch arctic pardon radar (total of 8 words this week)

The Daily Five in Reading:
*Read to Self:  Read a book you checked out from the library or from our classroom library
*Read to Someone: Reading to each other, then take a reading counts quiz on book
*Listen to Reading: Working on RazKids
*Work on Writing: Writing complete sentences with capital, spacing and punctuation in this weeks
                              writing journals.  Working on sequencing.
*Word Work - will be working on sight words, putting our spelling words into sentences
                          
Unit 3 - Skill: Determine Text Importance & Identify Sequence of Events:
We will continue to focus on the sequencing of events with the retelling of a story and in our writing. Students will learn vocabulary and concepts related to the life cycle of an oak tree. We will learn about the features of a non-fiction text which include the table of contents, an index and diagrams. 

In Math:
We are working on different ways to solve story problems.  The students are getting so good at personalizing the way they solve each problem! They listen for the important information in the story problem.  They think about what is missing and then they are listening to find out if it is a subtraction or additions problem.

We also will continue to do our math fluency timed tests.  We started practicing on XtraMath too!

Science: We will start to study Solids and Liquids in Science

On Day 1 we go to: Gym and Media
On Day 2 we go to: Music
On Day 3 we go to: Media and Gym
On Day 4 we go to: Art (Please have your child bring back their library book so they can check out a new one on Day 5)
On Day 5 we go to: Gym and Media (Check out day)
On Day 6 we go to: Art and Music

Help your child remember to bring back their Friday Folders on Monday and bring a healthy snack every day!
