Field Trip Pictures!

Last week of school!

We had a great day on Friday!  It might have been raining outside but it was all fun inside Shirley Hills!

On Thursday, May 30th 
We will go on our 2nd grade Field Trip to the Regional Park from 11:15 - 3:15. 
Bus leaves Shirley Hills at 11:15 am.  
Any parent can come on the bus or meet us at the park.
Students play on park playground first and eat their lunch between 11:30 - 12:45. 
All students need a bag lunch.
At 12:45 we will walk to the Regional Park's Center and participate in their program from 1:00 - 3:00
We will load buses at 3:10 and back to school at 3:25.
Any parent can go on this field trip (sorry no siblings), no fee and program includes a one hour hike. 
Email me and let me know if you would like to come on the bus or meet us there if you haven't yet!

Morning Meeting Schedule: Each student will have a time where they can share.  We will start with a greeting and then students will have two minutes to tell a story, show or talk about something they would like to bring to share with the class.  They will ask for three questions or comments.  If they are bringing in an item to share, it must fit in their backpack.

On Monday we will learning about Memorial Day.  Then on Tuesday and Wednesday we will finish our unit on Poetry.

We will start on Unit 13 on multiplication.

Also, we are working on Handwriting and doing end of the year reviews.

THIS FRIDAY WE HAVE SUPER TEAM DAY!  
Bring a bag lunch!!!! No lunch will be served in the cafeteria, so your child NEEDS TO BRING A LUNCH.
Wear appropriate clothing for the day - hat, tennis shoes (because they will be doing a lot of fun activities!) and bring a water bottle! I have sunscreen.

*Work on Writing: working in Spelling City to practice spelling words and reviewing Daily Language
*Word Work - working on fluency with reading passages and work on Sight Words.

Reading & Writing: Unit 10 - Making Inference/Draw Conclusions:
Students will draw conclusion using clues in texts they read and what they already know.  Drawing conclusions helps readers make sense of a text.  We will also revisit inferencing - students will make inferences to help them draw conclusions. When readers draw conclusions, they use clues or evidence in the text and what they already know to figure out what the author does not state directly.

In Genius Hour: Students will continues to do research based projects.  They will be deciding on a topic and checking out books from the library to do research.  They will be making posters so they can present their research to the class.
