Unit 4 -
Skill: Summarize/Synthesize & Analyze Story Elements
We are
moving on to our second week in this unit, which will consist of reading a
fictional big book about a fairy tale: Jack and the Beanstalk. Students will read and explore fairy tales, which is a fantasy
because something magical happens that cannot happen in real life. Read any fairy tales you have with
your child and analyze the story elements (character, setting, problem, solution, and plot).
Lunch/Recess is from 12:20 to 1:00
2nd Step: Unit 2 - Empathy - Lesson 8: Accepting - Respecting Different Preferences
We will talk about:
• Having empathy helps you notice when others
have different preferences from yours.

We will be working on using rulers to measure line segments (cm and in) and draw shapes.
As the students measure, compare, and add the lengths of objects, they will begin
to develop an understanding of the importance of measurement. This week we will also plot
our heights in centimeters using a line plot and find the difference of the tallest and shortest students.
