This week we will focus on:
Phonics: Lessons 42 - 45
We will review Lessons 39 - 40 that focused on qu words and the fszl Rule (f, s, z, and l are
doubled after a short vowel sound)

and in Lessons 41 - 42 we will focus on the ck blend and VCe words (the VCe - vowel,

Reading & Writing
Unit 3: Skill - Determine Text Importance & Identify Sequence of Events:
We
are moving into our third and final week of exploring sequencing and
determining text importance.
We will
read a Reader’s Theater called: The Day I Followed the Pickle - this
play will help teach kids
about the basic processes in the digestive system in
a silly, fun way! The kids will
understand characters’
motives, actions, and feelings while building fluency
and expression. We will also be taking
the unit
assessment as well.
Lunch/Recess is from 12:20 to 1:00
2nd Step: Unit 2 - Empathy - Lesson 6: Learning More About Feelings
Concepts we will discuss:
*Clues in faces, bodies, and situations help you notice and understand how people are feeling
*Everyone feels a wide variety of emotions
*Some feelings are comfortable and others are uncomfortable
We will name a variety of feelings, distinguish between comfortable and uncomfortable feelings and
use physical, verbal, and situational clues to determine what others are feeling.
We will be reading the book: Listening to My Body by Gabi Garcia
Concepts we will discuss:

In Math:
We are almost done Unit 2.
We have focused on using place value concepts to add, compare,
and order numbers within 200 and working on fluency of adding within 100,
money and adding 2-digit numbers with 2, 3 and 4 numbers. We will be
taking the assessments this week and then starting Unit 3: Geometry and
Measurement!
We are working hard on our Math Facts too! Addition, Subtraction and some
Multiplication! In these pictures the students are playing an addition game.
